School ceremonies, clubs, etc.

SUPER BEE OF THE MONTH Each grade level will nominate one student to be recognized as the “Super Bee of the Month.” The nomination should be based on citizenship, effort, and achievement, not necessarily high academic achievement. Since there are two homeroom classes per grade level, the two grade level teachers will alternate choosing a Super Bee of the Month from their homeroom class. The student will earn a certificate, a goody bag, and a yard sign to display at home for that month. Yard signs should be returned at the end of each month.

5TH GRADE STUDENT OF THE YEAR Students must have a 3.1 cumulative GPA (grades 2-5) and exhibit qualities in leadership, service, and citizenship. Students who meet the criteria are nominated for the award and must prepare an essay and participate in an interview. One winner will be chosen by a team of outside judges to represent the school at the parish level.

END OF YEAR CEREMONIES • Each teacher will determine which student achieved the highest average for the year in all subject areas. This will be calculated by getting an average over the four nine-weeks. • Each teacher will select a student in each subject area who showed the greatest improvement over the course of the year. • Each teacher will select a student in each subject area who showed strong citizenship. • Students who maintained Honor Roll all year will receive an award. • Students who maintained Principal’s List all year will receive an award. 12 • Students with perfect attendance will be recognized at the end-of-the-year assembly and receive a certificate.

LAGRANGE’S ELITE STUDENT SOCIETY (L.E.S.S.) In order to be invited into LaGrange’s Elite Student Society, students must have a GPA of a 3.5 and have no major referrals. Students are allowed one nine-weeks of a probation period before being removed from L.E.S.S. If a student enters the second nine-weeks, the first nine-weeks was considered his or her probation period and must meet the requirements for the remaining nine-weeks. A special award will be given to students with a 4.0 GPA per nine-weeks, and students who maintain a 4.0 GPA for all four nine-weeks will be recognized for such a special accomplishment. Each celebration will be held in the cafeteria where we will serve a breakfast to our honor students and their parents. CLUBS AND ORGANIZATIONS Academic and extracurricular clubs are available for students who wish to enrich their school experience. Most clubs will be available for students in grades 3-5. More information about these clubs is sent out throughout the year by club sponsors.
