LETTER FROM PRINCIPAL
Dear LaGrange Families,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am eager and excited to embark on this journey with all of you. I am mostly looking forward to working collectively as a family to ensure that our students are provided with the best possible learning experience. It has been a busy summer as our teachers have continued learning and growing to prepare for the upcoming year. Everyone is anxious for the students to be back in the classrooms where the magic happens! Partnering with all stakeholders will be crucial as we continue to face uncertainties in the aftermath of a global pandemic. Staying connected, providing support, and working together will guarantee our success as a school community. This year’s school theme is, “Learning takes you places.” We want our students to know that their education is important in reaching goals, both now and later in life. It is the outlet to the world and guarantees limitless opportunities. With hard work and a positive attitude, nothing is impossible for our students. It is our job to cultivate a love for learning. Lagrange’s mission is to provide a safe and positive learning environment where the focus is on student engagement. When students are actively involved in the learning process, they are more likely to want to know more, ask questions, and dig deeper into the curriculum. Ultimately, we are creating lifelong learners. There will be a focus on learning and academic growth, and the goal is not to let all the obstacles keep us from reaching our fullest potential. LaGrange is such a special place; not only are our students learning how to read and write, but we focus on developing the whole child. Our school family will work together to create a solid foundation for our students so they become motivated learners, team players, critical thinkers, and, overall, a responsible and kind human being. We will continue to implement social emotional learning, restorative practices, and Trust-Based Relational Interventions (TBRI). The role of the SEL Coach will continue this year, and students will be supported both in and out of the classroom. There are no problems too big when we face them together. I am looking forward to a year of growth. With the complexities and challenges we face daily, it is human nature to become distracted and discouraged. I think if we make it a priority to work together as a caring and compassionate learning community, tackling the challenges will seem possible. Our amazing students are the center of it all. THEY are our WHY! My door is always open, and your input is welcomed. Please feel free to contact me at (337) 828-1991 or via email at the following address: hmouton@stmaryk12.net. May the journey begin!Heidi Mouton
