Young Authors Winners Announced

Several SMP students were recently acknowledged for winning the Young Authors Writing Contest hosted annually by the Louisiana Reading Association. Members of the local council, Nicholls Reading Council, offers SMP students the opportunity to participate in this contest. Students choose to write in one of three categories: poetry, fiction, or nonfiction.

First place winners at the school level compete at the state level. This year, SMP had 3 state winners! State winners have their entry published in the Louisiana Reading Association’s 2026 Anthology.

Free ACT Prep

St. Mary Parish ACT Prep Opportunity: St. Mary Parish is offering a FREE ACT Summer Booster to help students prepare for the July 11 ACT.

This is open to students entering grades 9–12 for the 2026–2027 school year in SMP public high schools who register for the July 11 ACT.

Modified End of Year Dates

The School Board approved a modification to the last days of school.

🔷 Thursday, May 21, 2026 - Last day of school for students. It will be a FULL day. Students will receive report cards.

🔷 Friday, May 22nd - Teacher records day. No students.

🔷 Tuesday, May 26th - At-Home Teacher & Paraprofessional In-Service Day. Mandatory CPI Training. Details will be emailed.

Awards - Thursday, May 21st @ 1:00

 

Friday, May 22nd is our last full day, and we have NOTHING planned!  PreK, Kinder, and 5th will be gone.  🙂

 

Everyone is off Memorial Day.  Report card day is Tuesday, May 26th.  I need to see if paras have to attend that day.  Typically, everyone can leave early.  

 

May 27th - SUMMER BEGINS!!! 🎉🎉🎉
